Mexican singer-songwriter Julio Reyes performed live in New York last month at The Bowery Electric for the BMI Verano Alternativo showcase as a kickoff to the Latin Alternative Music Conference.
This was the first of many opportunities for Julio Reyes to present the live experience of REGIONAL ALTERNATIVO which fuses several traditional Mexican genres (Banda and Ranchera) with Soul y R&B sounds. He fired up the crowd and had everyone dancing with a set that included his most recent single “Me Canse de Rogarte” and his collaboration with the feisty singer-songwriter Amandititita on the single “Y Cuando Nadie Te Quiera”.
In 2012 Julio left his mark on the Regional Mexican genre with his first album “No Inventes”, released under Sony Music, which had hit singles like “No Inventes” and “Recompensa” featured on Billboard magazine.
His love for both Ranchera and R&B music led Julio to concoct this musical movement REGIONAL ALTERNATIVO with the talented and Latin GRAMMY-winning musician and producer Ulises Lozano (Kinky). With musical arrangements he enlisted the help and influence of Maurilio Pineda(Voz de Mando). This musical movement is also possible because of incredibly generous collaborations with Gloria Trevi, La Santa Cecilia, Chiquis Rivera, Amandititita and the several other guest surprises to come.
