Regular tournament play for the 2015 Torneo Clausura has come to an end and the eight spots in the Liguilla have been determined.  The games start this Wednesday with Santos Laguna facing off against Tigres UANL in a match that you can experience on Azteca America at 8:00 pm E/ 7:00 pm C/ 5:00 pm P.

The playoffs are about to start and the fight for the Mexican soccer title will involve Querétaro F.C., Santos Laguna, Club América, C.D. Guadalajara, Tigres UANL, Club Atlas, Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz, and C.F. Pachuca.

The first match of the Liguilla will be played by Santos Laguna and Tigres UANL.  It should be noted that Tigres UANL ended the regular season at the top of the standings with a total of 29 points.  The team seeks not only the Liga MX title, but the Copa Libertadores trophy as well.

The last time these two teams faced off in the Liguilla was during the semi-finals of the 2012 Torneo Clausura.  A 3-3 draw allowed Santos Laguna to advance and to eventually become champions after defeating C.F. Monterrey.  Coincidentally, one year earlier, Santos Laguna was defeated in the finals by Tigres UANL.

The match between Querétaro F.C. and Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz can be seen on Azteca America on Thursday, May 14 at 8:00 pm E/ 7:00 pm C/ 5:00 pm P.

Beginning in the 11th week, the Querétaro Gallos Blancos mounted a comeback thanks to manager Víctor Manuel Vucetich.  The team ended the season impressively, winning seven of its last nine matches.

Tiburones Rojos, on the other hand, started the tournament perched highest in the standings, only to falter a bit as the season progressed.  Nonetheless, the Veracruz team remained towards the top of the standings and finished the regular season in third place.

The current Mexican soccer champion, Club América, is in second place in the tournament standings and will welcome C.F. Pachuca.  Club Atlas and the Chivas Rayadas of C.D. Guadalajara, respectively fourth and fifth in the standings, will play in the Guadalajara derby.  Chivas hopes to prove it can still reach the heights it has in previous tournaments, while Atlas wants to break a 50-year streak of losing the title.
