Walsenburg Man Arrested for Alleged Child Sex Assault
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Walsenburg man in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a child occurring in Park County, Colorado in 2008.
Marc Ziolkowski (DOB: 11/5/1971) was taken into custody in Goodland, Kansas on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, and faces charges of sexual assault on a child (class 3 Felony). He was taken to the Wallace County Jail in Sharon Springs, Kansas and is being held without bond.
CBI Agents launched the investigation in 2014 following a request for assistance from the Park County Sheriff’s Office based on information the sheriff’s office received regarding an alleged child exploitation incident occurring in 2008.
It’s alleged Ziolkowski engaged in a sexual relationship with a teenage girl initiated through an online chat site in 2008.
After a comprehensive investigation, and in coordination with the 11th Judicial District in Colorado, the Park County Sheriff’s Office, the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, the Goodland Police Department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Ziolkowski in April.
CBI agents worked in conjunction with the Goodland Police Department to coordinate Ziolkowski’s arrest. Ziolkowski was taken into custody without incident on April 7, 2015.
Ziolkowski has previous law enforcement ties having worked as a member of the Colorado State Patrol, Fairplay Police Department, and is currently a member of the Goodland Police Department as a part-time employee. Ziolkowski was placed on administrative leave upon the department being notified of the investigation. Ziolkowski has also been working at Northwest Kansas Technical College for the past year; he has been placed on suspension at this time.
