2015 County Clerk’s Ballot Boxes Available for City Mayoral Runoff Election‏

The spirit of cooperation continues between the offices of the County Clerk and Recorder and the City Clerk of Colorado Springs.  Starting today, six of the County Clerk’s 24/7 ballot drop-off boxes will be available for the City of Colorado Springs’ Mayoral Runoff Election May 19.  The County also had provided ballot drop boxes in support of the City Clerk’s Office for the April 7 City Election.

“Conducting two elections within a six-week timeframe can be a substantial undertaking, and we commend the City Clerk’s Office for their professionalism,” said Chuck Broerman, County Clerk and Recorder.  “We are glad to lend assistance to the City by utilizing our ballot drop-off locations and also with staff support.  The two offices – City and County – working in conjunction are firmly committed to the voters of Colorado Springs and providing an efficient, fair and transparent election.”

In addition to the six 24/7 ballot drop boxes, the County Clerk has installed office-hour drop boxes inside all Motor Vehicle offices to support the City’s Mayoral Runoff Election.  The 24/7 boxes and the interior boxes at the Motor Vehicle offices will be open to voters to deposit their voted ballot from April 27 through Election Day, May 19.

Voters who need assistance such as a replacement ballot, to obtain a ballot, or other questions, will need to contact the City Clerk’s Office.

The City also has ballot drop-off locations which, along with the County drop boxes, will provide voters convenient options throughout the city where they can return their ballot.  Voters should visit the city’s website for a full list of ballot drop-off locations and more election information.

All Motor Vehicle Offices will have ballot boxes available inside the facility during normal business hours.  On Election Day, May 19, the offices will be open 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. This is in addition to the 24/7 ballot drop boxes.

Since 2012, the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office has installed twelve 24/7 ballot drop boxes throughout the county to service voters.  At the time the boxes were installed, the Clerk’s Office promised to make them available for municipal and special district elections.

The deployment of the 24/7 ballot drop boxes has proven popular with El Paso County voters.  During the 2014 General Election cycle, 59% of voters used one of the twelve 24/7 drop boxes.  The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office will continue to look to add more 24/7 ballot drop boxes for future elections.
