Monarcas Morelia vs.  Leones Negros

Monarcas Morelia was defeated 2-1 last Sunday in its match against Pumas.  This puts the squadron, managed by newly-arrived Roberto Hernández, in a serious bind.  The team remains at the bottom of the standings and the specter of relegation looms large.

This “soccer Friday,” Monarcas will face off against Club Universidad de Guadalajara.  The Leones Negros team comes to this match after a 2-1 victory over Tigres UANL in Estadio Jalisco.  Fidel Martínez scored the winning goal at the 74th minute after Guido Pizarro scored an own goal 21 minutes into the match.

Tijuana vs. Veracruz

Despite a 1-1 draw last Saturday when it faced off against Club Santos Laguna, Club Tijuana remains at the top of the standings with 20 points.  Gabriel Hauche’s goal, scored at the 90-minute mark, helped the Xolos remain at the top of the standings.  Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz continued its undefeated streak last Friday when it defeated Club León thanks to a goal from Édgar Andrade 39 minutes into the match.  The Veracruz team is now nipping at the heels of Tijuana managed by Daniel Guzmán.

This soccer Friday, the teams in first and second position in the rankings, Xolos and Tiburones, respectively, will face off in Tijuana’s Estadio Caliente in the most anticipated match of Week 10.

Puebla vs. Guadalajara

The match last week between Puebla and Chiapas ended in a draw.  Andrés Andrade scored with a penalty kick at the 87th minute and Matías Vuoso scored another goal at the 89-minute mark for the Chiapas Jaguar.  On Puebla’s side, a penalty kick 60 minutes into the match by Luis Rey and another goal from Facundo Erpen at 88 minutes kept Puebla in the game.  Both teams are on solid ground and Puebla, in particular, is getting closer to being the leader in the standings.

This Saturday, Puebla will play against C.D. Guadalajara, whose winning streak was brought to an abrupt end by Querétaro F.C. who defeated the Guadalajara 2-1.

All the excitement and the best matches can be experienced “soccer Friday” on Azteca America, La Casa del Fútbol Mexicano!
