Pepe Aguilar shines in 2014 and is ready for 2015

Without a doubt 2014 will be remembered as one of the most brilliant and successful years in PEPE AGUILAR’s career. During the first half of the year PEPE was dedicated to promoting “Lástima Que Sean Ajenas”, a musical tribute to one of Mexico’s best voices: Don Vicente Fernández and whom PEPE paid tribute for the great admiration he has always had for him.

“La Leyenda Continua” an exhibit at the Grammy Museum, began in May and for a period of a year will portray to the public over 100 memorabilia pieces. PEPE AGUILAR is the first Mexican artist to have an exhibit like this.

PEPE AGUILAR toured over 100 dates throughout the year with sellouts in most venues, casinos and palenques both in Mexico and the U.S. Performing at major landmarks such as the Auditorio Telmex in Guadalajara, Auditorio Banamex in Monterrey, The Forum in Los Angeles and the Palms Casino in Las Vegas among others.

In June PEPE AGUILAR made music history by being the first Regional Mexican artist to record an MTV Unplugged album. Artists like Miguel Bosé, Amandititita, Saúl Hernandez, Reyli Barba, Natalia Lafourcade, “La Marisoul” from Santa Cecilia, and his children Angela and Leonardo were among the artists that participated in this record produced by Meme Real.

On September 6, PEPE was honored by the Hispanic Heritage Awards in Washington D.C making him recipient to the “Master of the Arts” award for his contribution and influence among Hispanics in the U.S.

By October 2014 Pepe Aguilar: MTV Unplugged premiered on TV, becoming trending topic on twitter as well as debuting as # 1 on the sales charts for the release of its physical and digital album. The record remained several days in the first position and several weeks in the Top 5.

Along with promoting the Unplugged, PEPE AGUILAR received one more satisfaction for his previous album “Lástima Que Sean Ajenas”. During the ceremony of the Latin Grammys PEPE won his 5th Gramophone in the category of “Best Ranchero Album ” where among the nominees was Don Vicente. PEPE also performed at the ceremony “Siempre En Mi Mente” a duet with Miguel Bosé; track included in the Unplugged album.

PEPE AGUILAR closed 2014 with a Grammy nomination for his album “Lástima Que Sean Ajenas”. The awards will take place February 8 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles bringing him closer to a possible fifth NARAS award. The album Pepe Aguilar: MTV Unplugged was listed as one of the 10 most important and notable Latin albums of 2014. The album was also featured on AMPROFON Mexico’s Top Selling Albums despite its release three months before the end of the year; both Billboard Magazine and NBC highlighted the album during their end of year recap.

What will 2015 bring for PEPE AGUILAR?, certainly a year that will also imprint a mark on his career. PEPE will kick off 2015 with the traditional Palenque de la Feria de León on 22 January.
