“Let food be thy medicine, and let thy medicine be food.” A saying attributed to Hippocrates around the 5th century B.C. Nowadays, we as a society want to know much more about what ingredients are and where they come from before we consume them.
Alimentándose bien durante el cáncer: Recetas fáciles y recomendaciones durante y después del tratamiento (Eating Well During Cancer) contains much of the wisdom of Hippocrates, as well as 21st century science, to be a useful guide for patients undergoing chemotherapy and requiring a diet to complement their treatment. It is also for those who want recipe choices to live a healthy lifestyle and prevent diseases.
“I began investigating diets and nutrition for patients suffering from cancer and found that the available information was either too technical, promised miracle cures, or required a radical change in lifestyle. My goal was to offer delicious recipes that would help alleviate the side effects during cancer treatments,” writes Holly Clegg, internationally known nutrition expert.
This edition in Spanish includes contributor Mexican chef Zoe Muller, who has included recipes from her country as well as some from around Latin America. “I have always been passionate about helping and teaching others to understand that eating healthy can also be delicious, especially in the Hispanic community,” adds Chef Zoe.
Alimentándose bien durante el cáncer is made up of nine chapters. Each of the recipes includes nutritional information and options for diabetics -some medications that fight cancer also elevate the blood sugar- as well as for those who are gluten intolerant to gluten, and for vegetarians. This is a book filled with valuable information to help anyone going through difficult moments in life.
