Preparations for possibility of ebola case in Colorado

In working with the Colorado Hospital Association, CDPHE expects all hospitals to be prepared to identify, isolate and provide initial care in the event of a suspect or confirmed ebola patient in Colorado. In some situations, there may be a need for a higher level of care and we have identified three hospitals in Colorado that are prepared to provide this level of care for a patient with ebola. These hospitals are Denver Health, University Hospital and Children’s Hospital Colorado. We expect to add other facilities as a result of our ongoing hospital survey. This care is an extension of the advanced care services they already provide and makes them a logical choice to provide care to ebola patients.

Gov. John Hicklooper participated in a call today between CDPHE and health care providers around the state. He remains briefed on any developments regarding the state’s ebola preparations.
