CDP Statement on Hispanic Heritage Month

Today marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month. Every year from September 15th to October 15th we highlight the contributions of Hispanics to the United States and honor the leaders who have fought tirelessly for the rights of the Hispanic community.

Rick Palacio, Chairman of the Colorado Democratic Party said:

“Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the contributions of the Hispanic community to our country – the culture, history and legacy of the many Hispanics who have helped make our country great. However, there is still more work to do in order for our country to be fully inclusive and respectful.”

Palacio continued, “Hispanics in Colorado are calling for affordable education for our children, for a higher minimum wage and immigration reform that will bring millions of undocumented immigrants out of the shadows. It’s time for Republicans like Bob Beauprez, Cory Gardner and Mike Coffman to start treating the Hispanic community with respect, put their money where their mouth is and stop standing in the way of progress.”
