Colorado Department of Revenue Begins Roll-out of Senate Bill 13-251

(Colorado Road and Community Safety Act)

 

 

Senate Bill 13-251, The Colorado Road and Community Safety Act, authorizes the issuance of a Colorado driver’s license, instruction permit or identification card to those individuals who either cannot demonstrate lawful presence in the U.S. or can only demonstrate temporary lawful presence in the U.S. beginning August 1, 2014.

The Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will be conducting workshops in July, August, and September to assist our customers. After July 2, 2014, customers are encouraged to go to the DMV web site at www.colorado.gov/revenue then to the Quick Links for the workshop schedule.

This program will be rolled out by appointment only and in five offices around the state to ensure that customers will receive service by employees trained in the new processes and procedures. Here are the office locations:

Cards issued under this program will have a banner stating, NOT FOR FEDERAL IDENTIFICATION, VOTING, OR PUBLIC BENEFIT PURPOSES.
