A Music Company Inc., is bringing Chicago blues man Nick Moss to the Crystola Roadhouse, 20918 E Us Highway 24, Woodland Park, CO, on Saturday, June 20, 2014. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and show time is 8:00 p.m.
There’s a ‘Renaissance Man’ revival in the music industry these days, and Nick Moss has taken advantage of it.
Nick has widened his focus in order to absorb song forms and influences beyond the scope of those heard on his previous albums. Not every artist is willing to challenge themselves to grow, explore, and expand. For Nick, that has become second nature.
Over the course of recording studio and live albums with his excellent band the Flip Tops, singer and guitarist Nick Moss proved himself to be somewhat of a Chicago blues traditionalist. While the “Windy City” native would embellish the classic Chicago sound with a little ‘house-rockin’ energy from time to time, he was just as likely to go backwards in time, towards the “one step from the Delta” era as he did with the acoustic disc of 2007’s acclaimed Play It ‘Til Tomorrow album.
Two years after unveiling his muscular new sound on the Blues Music Award nominated Privileged, (2010) Moss returned with a crackerjack new band and new sound with Here I Am, the second knockdown, knockout pitch from Moss. Building upon what now seem to be the tentative first steps of Privileged and Here I Am, Moss and his blues bruisers release Time Ain’t Free in 2014. Extending his creative streak, Time Ain’t Free offers an intelligent, updated take on ’70s rock and R&B, marked by daring arrangements and the powerful voice of Michael Ledbetter, perfectly complimenting Nick’s own distinct vocals. The set encompasses Muscle Shoals sweetness, stormy postmodern boogie, greasy roadhouse R&B, soul-tinged rock, and gospel-inflected ballads, all filtered through Moss’ deep-blue lens.
“Nick’s new band is the best yet and his growing legion of fans has been very supportive of the new direction Nick has chosen. We expect this show to be sold out and encourage people to purchase tickets early” explains Amy Whitesell of A Music Company Inc., promoter of the show.
