On Immigration, Gardner Votes With Rep. Steve King (R-IA) Every 9 Out Of Ten Times

Radical anti-immigrant Rep. Steve King (R-IA) has made headlines for years with his offensive and often bigoted comments about America’s immigrant communities. He’s compared them to dogs, said DREAMers have large calves because they’re drug mules, and suggested erecting an electrified fence on the border.

Despite these extreme views, Congressman Cory Gardner votes with King 9 times out of 10 on immigration issues — most notably in last year’s vote to deport DREAMers, young people who were brought into this country through no fault of their own.

“While Colorado’s immigrant families are being senselessly torn apart, Gardner continues to stand with the most radical, anti-immigrant members of Congress. Gardner teamed up with Tea Party extremist Steve King, who infamously said DREAMers were ‘drug mules,’ to push legislation to deport DREAMers from the country they grew up in and call home,” said west Denver resident Angela Padilla.

“Tens of thousands of Coloradans live their lives afraid that one day a loved one may vanish or a parent  may be swiftly deported. That’s why Colorado needs a Senator like Mark Udall, who is fighting to reform America’s broken immigration laws and keep hardworking families together,” Padilla added.

Both Gardner and King have fought the DREAM Act and the Senate’s bipartisan immigration reform bill, and have praised Arizona’s draconian “show me your papers” law.
