Discovery Center Offers “Astronomy” Star Gazing on July 3

 During its Summer of Discovery the Space Foundation Discovery Center is presenting two weeks of activities and special events that focus on the theme of “Astronomy,” culminating with star gazing with the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society, starting at 8:00 p.m. on July 3. The star gazing and most other “Astronomy” activities at the Discovery Center are included in the price of admission.

The Discovery Center is located off of Garden of the Gods Road at 4425 Arrowswest Drive, and is the region’s first and only space, science and technology attraction.

July 1 – 3, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

  • Free Make-Your-Own-Solar-System Sticker set for the first 25 paid children admitted Tuesday through Thursday (age 4-17 only, includes Discovery Passport holders)
  • “Astronaut Me Photos” ($3 extra fee)
  • Science On a Sphere® Presentations
  • Astronomy Apps Presentations (iPhone and Android)
  • Mars Robotics Laboratory Presentations – 1:00 p.m./3:00 p.m.
  • Minecraft Games in AGI Space Missions Simulation Laboratory – 11:00 a.m./2:00 p.m. ($4 extra fee)
  • Bounce House
  • Astronomy-themed Crafts
    • Make-Your-Own Telescope
    • Astronomy Coloring Pages
    • Constellation Station – make your own necklace, bracelet or keychain ($3 extra fee)
    • Craft Table – Star Chart or Astronaut Window

July 2

  • 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. – Florissant Fossil Beds Presentations “Preserving Darkness”
  • 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Solar Gazing with Colorado Springs Astronomical Society
  • 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Cool Science® Interactive Demonstrations

July 3

  • 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. – Bite Me Gourmet Sausages Food Truck
  • 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. – Bite Me Gourmet Sausages Food Truck
  • 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. – Florissant Fossil Beds Presentations “Globe at Night
  • 8:00 p.m. – Star Gazing with Colorado Springs Astronomical Society
