Colorado Veterans Community Living Centers at Homelake, Walsenburg Receive National Quality Awards

The American Health Care Association (AHCA) and the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) have recognized the Colorado Veterans Community Living Centers at Homelake and Walsenburg as 2014 recipients of the Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award.  These community living centers are two of only 10 in Colorado to receive this national recognition.

Nationally, only five of 390 programs receiving the award serve only honorably discharged veterans, veterans’ spouses or widows and “Gold-Star Parents” who are non-veterans, but whose children have died while serving in the Armed Forces.  CDHS boasts two of them!

“The award reflects the hard work and commitment of Homelake and Walsenburg leadership and staff to provide the best quality of life to Colorado’s heroes in their later years,” said Viki Manley, director, Office of Community Access and Independence in the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS), which operates the veterans community living centers.

Homelake and Walsenburg staff will receive their awards at the AHCA/NCAL 65th Annual Convention and Exposition, October 5-8, in Washington, D.C.
