Bear Creek Watershed Trails Reopen June 20
The U.S. Forest Service (USFS)-Pikes Peak District, Colorado Springs Utilities and the City of Colorado Springs announced today trails in and around the Bear Creek Watershed will reopen to recreationalists Friday, June 20.
The reopened trail numbers are 665, 666, 667, 668, 701, 720 and 720A, which includes Bear Creek Trail, Captain Jacks Trail, Jones Park and others. The attached trail map outlines exact locations and which trails are opened to motorized and non-motorized users.
Trails were closed after damage from the September 2013 flood posed risks to public safety; however, recent repairs have restored affected trails so that they can be accessed once again.
The USFS Order 14-10 and maps will be posted to the web at: www.fs.usda.gov/psicc under Alerts and Notices. For more information, you may also contact the Pikes Peak District Office at 719-636-1602.
