Affiliation Deadline for Primary Mail Ballot Approaches Voters Urged Not to Delay Returning Ballot

Any unaffiliated voter wishing to participate in the 2014 Primary Election must change their affiliation by 11:59 PM on Monday, June 16 if they wish to get a ballot by mail.  If an unaffiliated voter misses the affiliation deadline necessary to receive a mail-ballot, the voter may still participate in the Primary Election if they change their affiliation and vote in person at any Voter Service and Polling Center.  Unaffiliated voters must affiliate to vote in a party’s Primary.

On June 2, the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office mailed Primary Election ballots to all members of Colorado’s three major political parties—American Constitution, Democratic, and Republican.  If any El Paso County resident affiliated with any of Colorado’s three major political parties has not yet received their ballot, they should call (719) 575-VOTE (8683) immediately.

All ballots must be returned to the Clerk and Recorder’s Office by 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 24 to be counted.  Voters are urged not to delay returning their ballot to the Clerk and Recorder’s Office.  Voters have a wide assortment of convenient options available for returning their ballot, including by mail, 11 different 24/7 ballot drop boxes, or Voter Service and Polling Centers).  If a voter chooses they may return their ballot by mail ($0.70 is likely adequate postage), but it is not suggested that a voter attempt to return a ballot by mail after Thursday, June 19.   A full list of 24/7 ballot drop-off boxes and VSPCs can be found below.
