Dante Spinetta and Emmanuel Horvilleur, the talented members of the eclectic Argentine duo Illya Kuryaki And The Valderramas are enjoying another peak moment in their career, which has been revitalized since the debut of their catchy song “Ula, Ula.”

The U.S. has been one of the markets that opened its doors to the music of this singular band now ready to bring the best of their eclectic repertoire to the United States. This American tour will take them to several venues in Austin, Texas, beginning today March 11 through the 16th of the same month to participate at the SXSW, an important annual festival and music conference held in Austin, Texas.

Their first stop will be the Mohawk (912 Red River Street Austin, TX), today, March 11 at 3 p.m.; tomorrow they are slated to appear at the Convention Center’s Radio Day Stage at 1:00 p.m. and they will perform again a few hours later at The North Door (502 Brushy Street).

This American tour is a prelude to their performance on March 14 at the Teatro Royal Center in Bogota, Colombia, where they will perform the biggest hits from their seven albums, the last of which “Chances” (2013) and a live album in 96 entitled “Ninja Mental MTV Unplugged.” In 2013, they were nominated for 5 Latin GRAMMY®, won a Latin GRAMMY® in the category of “Best Urban Song” and they were also nominated for a GRAMMY® for their album “Chances,” which put them back on top with the backing of Sony Music Latin.

The song was chosen by Target for its advertising campaign “Summer Up,” which caught the attention of none other than Oprah Winfrey (@Oprah), who recommended them to her 19 million followers on Twitter. This resulted in the famous “Oprah Effect,” which assures very good sales to those artists she singles out.

Dante Spinetta and Emmanuel Horvilleur make up the duo Illya Kuryaki And The Valderramas. They were super famous in the 90s, with their hip retro style and references to pop culture. The two separated in 2001 to later reunite 10 years later. As luck would have it, they are even more successful the second time around.
