“”Treinta Días” also established the group as a next-wave successor to quintessential L.A. outfits like Los Lobos, Quetzal and Ozomatli that pioneered cross-border fusions of rock, funk, punk, ska, cumbia, son jarocho, norteño and more.” – Los Angeles Times
“One Of Our Favorite Albums of the Year… The more time this band spends together in the studio and on the road, the better it gets. From small venues in its Southern California hometown to performances at festivals and stages across the country, La Santa Cecilia is collecting new fans every step of the way. Treinta Días is a perfect example of an impressive musical vision that makes La Santa Cecilia truly special.” – NPR Music
“ La Santa Cecilia has become a critical darling. Its original compositions blend bolero, bossa nova and Colombian cumbia with jazz, rock and klezmer music. ..Singing in both English and Spanish, La Santa Cecilia’s members take a storytelling approach to songwriting. They regard themselves as a voice for young Hispanics whose parents migrated to the U.S. from Latin America to form the massive, modern immigration wave. Their romantic lyrics touch on working-class and immigrant struggles to pay the bills, evade deportation and realize their dreams… La Marisol lights up the stage with her powerful, velvety voice” –Wall Street Journal
After winning the GRAMMY® for Best Latin Alternative Album for their album “Treinta Dias” (Universal Music Latino), La Santa Cecilia present their new single “Cumbia Morada”.
“Cumbia Morada” is the first single from their upcoming new album and was written by the band, their producer, the multiple GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® award winning, Sebastian Krys and their long-time collaborator Claudia Brant (Luis Fonsi, Paulina Rubio, Ricky Martin, amongst others.)
“Cumbia Morada is, in essence, a “party song” in every sense of the word. We started out as a party band, and wanted to reflect that on this song. We wanted to create a light hearted Cumbia about letting go, being free, disconnecting from the daily grind, and feeling good. Whatever floats your boat, whatever makes you feel good. Go for it!”, said the band.
La Santa Cecilia is an rock-alternative band composed by immigrants and sons of immigrants and dreamers. The band, based in Los Angeles, takes their name from the patron saint of music and constitutes the voice of a new bicultural generation in the United States, that is completely immersed in contemporary music and the native arts of a country that many call “home” since they were young, while fusing it in a new sound that pays homage to the traditional richness of their Mexican heritage.
