The 2014 Governor’s Forum on Colorado Agriculture, themed “Farm to Table: What do Consumers Really Want?,” will highlight emerging trends in Colorado agriculture this Thursday, Feb. 27, at the Renaissance Hotel in Denver.

Governor John Hickenlooper will host the event and will speak about the thriving and diverse Colorado agricultural industry, which contributes more than $40 billion to the state’s economy and provides nearly 173,000 jobs annually.

The event’s keynote speaker, Director Keith Schneller of the U.S. Agricultural Trade Office in Shanghai, China, will bring an international perspective on consumer preferences to the Forum. Schneller will talk about the rapid changes taking place in China, especially as the internet becomes a powerful tool influencing decisions made by hundreds of millions of Chinese consumers.

Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture John Salazar will deliver remarks as well, framing the day’s discussion about consumer preferences with introductory remarks. The consumer preferences theme will also be highlighted through a unique live consumer focus group on stage and participant engagement with a remote audience response system.
