The 29th Annual Festival of Lights Parade will take place in downtown Colorado Springs on December 7, 2013. It will again feature plenty of entertaining marching bands, beautiful lighted floats and an array of special units featuring car clubs, motorcycles, animals and other floats all decked out with plenty of lights and holiday trim. The theme for this year’s parade is: “Songs of the Season”. This year, Santa Claus will be riding in his new hand crafted sleigh, designed and built by Mr. David Bullock.
Each year the parade is led by a Grand Marshall and this year we are honoring a special person, our own El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa. He will be greeted by thousands of Colorado Springs residents who will line the street, getting the chance to thank him properly for his years of service as sheriff, but especially his outstanding leadership during our last two years’ of devastating wild fires. Sheriff Maketa will lead off the annual holiday parade riding in a beautiful Lexus convertible courtesy of Colorado Springs Lexus. The parade will start at St Vrain St. and travel south on Tejon Ave. to Vermijo St. The parade starts promptly at 5:50 pm.
