COLORADO DEMOCRATIC PARTY CHAIRMAN, RICK PALACIO STATEMENT ON COLORADANS NO LONGER BEING DENIED HEALTH CARE BECAUSE OF PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS
Because of the Affordable Care Act 129 million Americans nationwide can not be denied health coverage because of pre-existing conditions such as cancer, asthma or diabetes. Here in Colorado nearly 2,250,000 Coloradans, 291,000 of whom are children, are currently protected from discrimination based on their health status.
Colorado Democratic Party Chairman, Rick Palacio released the following statement:
“Coloradans can finally have peace of mind that they won’t get dropped by their insurance or be denied health coverage because of a pre-existing condition. Unfortunately, Republicans across our state and throughout the nation are determined to see this health care law dismantled at any cost. If Republicans get their way, over 2 million Coloradans and nearly 129 million Americans will go back to a broken health care system, where individuals who need coverage most are forced to live without health care or pay high deductibles for low quality coverage that doesn’t fit their needs,
“Instead of wasting valuable time attempting to defund, overhaul or abolish the ACA, Colorado Republicans Mike Coffman, Doug Lamborn, Cory Gardner and Scott Tipton need to work with Democrats to go about the business of the American people,
“Now is the time to pass comprehensive immigration reform, the Farm Bill, reauthorize the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) and raise the minimum wage. The clock is ticking, and Coloradans are watching every move to see who will best represent them and our state for the foreseeable future.”
