CDP Statement on Expiration of Unemployment Benefits‏

Tomorrow, millions of Americans will lose unemployment insurance. Congress has acted 11 times previously to extend these benefits, but this year the Tea Party controlled House of Representatives has succeeded in denying these essential benefits to millions nationwide and thousands in Colorado.

Colorado Democratic Party Chairman, Rick Palacio, made the following statement:

“A very frightening pattern is emerging within the Tea Party controlled House of Representatives.  This week we are again witnessing a group of out-of-touch extremists dictating the fiscal policies of this country based off of ideology and not reason,” Palacio said.

“It is time for Tea Party loyalists like Mike Coffman, Doug Lamborn and Scott Tipton to fight for their constituents best interests not against them. Congress’s number one priority should be a return to the mission of protecting the American people rather than sacrificing essential benefits and programs for cheap political gains.”
