As U.S. House Republicans and Democrats Vote for Compromise Budget, Tea Party Senate Candidates Stay Silent

Today, Colorado Democratic Party Chairman Rick Palacio issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives voted for a bipartisan budget agreement reached by Democratic Senator Patty Murray and Republican Representative Paul Ryan, taking one more step to end the governing-by-crisis that has damaged Colorado’s economy.

“This budget, while not perfect, gives Colorado businesses certainty by relieving some of the harmful effects of the sequester, reducing the deficit, and taking away the opportunity for these Tea Party senate candidates to cheer on another damaging government shutdown.  Yet Tea Party Republican senate candidates Amy Stephens, Ken Buck, Owen Hill and Randy Baumgardner are refusing to take a position on this bipartisan proposal. It’s time they put their political ambitions aside and do what’s good for the country.”
