The Pikes Peak Center announced four more shows to their fall line-up today.
Reinventing Radio: An Evening with Ira Glass – Saturday, October 12, 2013. Journalist, storyteller and humorist Ira Glass will make an appearance at the Pikes Peak Center on October 12th. The creator of the public radio show, This American Life, talks about his program and how it’s put together: what makes a compelling story, where they find the amazing stories for their show, how he and his staff are trying to push broadcast journalism to do things it doesn’t usually do. As part of this, Glass mixes stories from the show, live onstage, combining his narration with pre-taped quotes and music, recreating the sound of the show as the audience watches. And he plays funny and memorable moments from the show, and talks about what was behind their creation.
Foreigner – Sunday, November 3, 2013. The iconic band’s brand of electrifying blustery blues mixed with impeccably crafted pop continues to captivate generation after generation of music fans. With hits like “I Want To Know What Love Is,” “Waiting For A Girl Like You,” “Double Vision,” “Juke Box Hero,” and “Cold As Ice”, Foreigner has sold more than 70 million albums and has experienced multi-platinum success around the world.
Buddy Guy – Wednesday, November 13, 2013. Buddy Guy is one of the most celebrated blues guitarists of his generation, possessing a sound and style that embodies the traditions of classic Chicago Blues while embracing the fire and flash of rock & roll. Guy spent much of his career as a well-regarded journeymen, cited as a modern master by contemporary blues fans but not breaking through to a larger audience before he finally caught the brass ring in the 1990s and released a series of albums that made him one of the biggest blues acts today. He is a seasoned veteran with a modern edge. Few guitarists of any genre have enjoyed the respect of their peers as Guy has, with such giants as Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Keith Richards, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Mark Knopfler all citing him as a personal favorite.
Jim Brickman: The Magic of Christmas – Sunday, December 29, 2013. Jim Brickman brings the spirit of the season to life once again with The Magic of Christmas — and you’re invited! Brickman, along with special guest performers, delivers the perfect blend of music and entertainment, making lasting memories for the whole family. Brickman will perform holiday favorites along with the hits that have made him the best-selling solo pianist of our time. Emotion, intimacy, warmth, and humor come together for the ideal winter’s night celebration. The Magic of Christmas is the must-see concert of the holiday season.
