Hailing from São Paolo, João Luiz and Douglas Lora return to Lakewood to seamlessly blend a beautiful array of classical and Brazilian styles into another unforgettable performance. Winners of the 2006 Concert Artists Guild International Music Competition, Luiz and Lora have cemented themselves as two of the most talented and relevant guitarists of their generation.  Frequent repertoire includes works by both Luiz and Lora, as well as Piazzolla, Rameau, Castelnuovo-Tedesco,Villa-Lobos, Gismonti, and Pereira.

Brasil Guitar Duo actively strives to expand the repertoire for two guitars, with Lora contributing works of his own and Luiz arranging both classical and Brazilian music. Appearing frequently in diverse nontraditional spaces, the Duo brings a broad range of classical guitar duos (Bach, Sor, Scarlatti, Debussy, etc.) combined with the traditional music of its native land (choro, samba, maxixe, and baião).

Luiz and Lora met in São Paulo as teenage guitar students and have been performing together for more than 15 years. Eager advocates for both traditional and new concerti for two guitars and orchestra, the Duo premiered a work by Brazilian composer Paulo Bellinati with the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Giancarlo Guerrero, in June 2012. The Duo has appeared internationally in major concert series and at festivals in Germany, England, South Korea, Colombia, Brazil, Austria, Panama, Poland, and Bermuda.
