STS9 Unveils Support / Red Rocks Amphitheatre / September 6 & 7‏

Friday and Saturday September 6th and 7th

It’s that time of year again!  STS9 have unveiled yet another blockbuster support line-up for their two nights at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Sept. 6th & 7th.   This year the band are proud to announce the additions of legendary rapper NAS, along with a number of next big sounds in music including Tycho, araabMuzik, XXYYXX, and even MORE to be announced.   2013 marks STS9’s 11th straight year performing at Red Rocks!

Nas is an American rapper and actor. Since 1994, Nas has released eight consecutive platinum and multi-platinum albums and sold over 25 million records worldwide.  His musical career began in 1991 when he was featured on Main Source’s track “Live at the Barbeque”. His debut album Illmatic, released in 1994, received universal acclaim from both critics and the hip hop community. It is frequently ranked as one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time.  His follow-up album It Was Written debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Charts, stayed on top for four consecutive weeks, went platinum twice in only two months, and made Nas internationally known.

Scott Hansen, professionally known as Tycho, is an American artist and producer, who is known as ISO50 for his photographic and design works.  Tycho is currently signed to, and has released under, Ghostly International, but has also released music on Merck Records and Gammaphone Records.  His song, Dictaphone’s Lament, was used as the track on a music video entitled “Live Life to the Fullest”, which was made by and featured on the action cartoon block Toonami. Additionally, his song “Cascade” (originally made for an Adult Swim/Ghostly International compilation) was played during the final moments of the original 11-year run of Toonami in 2008.

Abraham Orellana, professionally known as araabMuzik, is an American record producer. He first rose to fame after showcasing his skills of making live beats and instrumentals on an MPC drum machine via the internet. Being known to use an MPC, he has the ability to produce rapid, rhythmic drum patterns as well as making melodies using various samples and other sounds all at once.  AraabMuzik’s style often employs samples arranged and triggered in real time on the MPC drum machine, with fast paced drum patterns involving rapid hi-hats and kick drums. He has used samples from a wide variety of music, including electro, dubstep, gabber, and trance music.  Although AraabMuzik’s main tool is an Akai Music Production Center drum machine, he has also used keyboard controllers and often live drums.

XXYYXX is an electronic musician and producer from Orlando, Florida. He is most notable for gaining a prominence within the indie music culture, despite his young age and experimental lo-fi music, which he made in his bedroom with Fruity Loops Studio and software from Ableton.  Everett himself described his music as “Doing drugs on a freeway…underwater,” in an interview with Relief in Abstract Records. His style was also likened to Clams Casino, Burial, James Blake and The Weeknd.  His musical influences include Lapalux, Star Slinger, Disclosure and Shlohmo.  A music video for his song, About You, which has over 10 million views was directed by Jeffrey Vash.

NAS and araabMuzik perform on Friday Sept 6th.
Tycho and XXYYXX perform on Saturday Sept 7th.

Both shows will feature additional artists to be announced.

Showtimes for each night are 7:00 PM.  Gates open at 6:00 PM.
