About George Rivera:

A lifelong resident of Pueblo, I was born in 1948 and grew up without means in Pueblo’s East side. Being raised in a proud Mexican family, my mother, brother and older sister came to the United States in search of the American Dream (opportunities).  In 1963 my family returned to Mexico to process for their US visas and after returning legally to Colorado they became US citizens.

In 1971 I heeded a calling to serve my community and joined the Pueblo Police Department.  During my 34 year career I progressed through the ranks from Patrolman, to Corporal, to Sergeant, then Captain, and finally retiring in 2005 as Deputy Chief.

After retiring I became more active in the Republican Party, and after extensive discussions with my wife Kathryn, I decided it was time to seek public office in order to apply common sense and traditional values to the legislative process in Colorado.
