QUIET FOURTH ON THE FORESTS AND GRASSLANDS
It was a quiet Fourth of July on the Forests and Grasslands. Initial attack crews responded to four wildfire calls. Beaver Brook fire, located in Jefferson County along Pine Road north of highway 40 was contained at a tenth of an acre. Gold Belt fire in Fremont County was contained at a quarter of an acre and Freedom Fire in Park County was contained at a tenth of an acre. The smoke report along highway 67 near Rainbow Falls was deemed a false alarm because no fire was found.
“We’re grateful we had a quiet day” said Deputy Forest Supervisor John Peterson. “Much appreciation goes out to the public for partnering with us in preventing wildfires by adhering to the fire restrictions.” The recent rains and cooler weather has helped to moderate fire behavior but fire danger remains elevated. Fire restriction will remain in place.
