National Zoo Keeper Week – July 21-27, 2013
It’s National Zoo Keeper Week! Come on out to the Pueblo Zoo to see our amazing, talented and inspiring professional keepers in action. As is true all summer, you can Meet a Keeper at 11:00 or attend the otter feeding at 1:30 or join in on penguin feeding at 3:00. Come on out to the zoo and “thank a keeper!”
Coming soon – AAZK Zookeeper BBQ at the Pueblo Zoo
August 24, 6pm – 9pm
The Southern Colorado Chapter of the American Association of Zookeepers (AAZK) invites the public to join them for a BBQ at the Pueblo Zoo. In addition to serving as a fundraising for the group, this is a fantastic opportunity for the community to learn more about what zookeepers do in the beautiful zoo setting. Attendees can talk directly with Zoo professionals about career opportunities in the field The Keepers will give historic tours of the stunning depression era WPA/CCC architecture in the Zoo’s “Historic District” including the bear pits, Monkey Mountain, the herpetarium, etc. Keepers will also host “keeper games”.

Presale $15 – Adult; $7 Child

Other News at the Zoo
– Porcupettes – 2 baby African Crested Porcupines (porcupettes) were born June 28. They are currently being “socialized” which means getting them used to Keepers for future care needs.
– 2 baby swift fox born in late June.
