Mountaineer men named Division II Academic Team of the Year‏

For the second consecutive season, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named the Western State Colorado University men’s track and field team the NCAA Division II Men’s Outdoor Scholar Team of the Year.  It’s the third time since 2007 that the Mountaineer men have earned the award.

The Mountaineers maintained a 3.12 grade-point average (GPA) and finished in fifth place at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

The USTFCCCA Scholar Team of Year is determined by combining academic and athletic achievement.  Western was the highest-placing team at the outdoor national championships with at least a 3.00 cumulative team GPA.

Western’s Vegard Olstad (So., Gjovik, Norway) was also named the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track Men’s Scholar Athlete of the Year.
