Mercy´s Gate Pantry Affected By Black Forest Fire

FOOD NEEDED – MERCY’S GATE PANTRY AFFECTED BY BLACK FOREST FIRE

Due to the unprecedented need created by the Black Forest Fire, the food pantry at Mercy’s Gate is currently running low. We ask area residents to consider making a food donation today (learn how here: http://www.mercysgatecs.org/?p=222).

Mercy’s Gate, one of the area’s largest human services organizations dedicated exclusively to the Colorado Springs area, provides resources daily to help neighbors in need and most recently has added support to Black Forest fire impacted neighbors. The organization had a presence at the El Paso County Disaster Assistance Center, while maintaining day to day operations from our   main location at 4285 North Academy Blvd.

Mercy’s Gate supports neighbors with everything from food and gas needs to utilities, rental assistance, prescription assistance, and most recently support for Black Forest fire-impacted neighbors.

Because of the recent fires, food pantry resources across the City of Colorado Springs are running low.  Like many other area food pantries, the Mercy’s Gate food pantry has been affected by the recent food shortage. Many of those who normally donate food to replenish our supplies are now stretched thin as they’re supporting additional needs created by the Black Forest fire.  Mercy’s Gate food reserves are very low and we rely upon the generous support of the community to help replenish our food pantry stock.

WHAT IS NEEDED

Non-perishable food:  Esp. canned fruit, canned meat, tuna fish, peanut butter, spaghetti sauce, tomato items, assorted canned vegetables, sugar, flour, cereal and ramen noodles.
