Annually, the County Sheriffs of Colorado present scholarships to the most deserving of Colorado Students. In order to allow all Colorado counties to participate, the $500 scholarship alternates between counties. For Pueblo County, a CSOC scholarship was awarded in 2012. Unfortunately, that means 2013 isn’t a CSOC scholarship year for Pueblo County.
Sheriff Kirk M. Taylor believes so strongly in the foundation a higher education provides that he has arranged for PCSO to provide a match scholarship during the alternating years. Rye High School 2013 Salutatorian, Anna M. Jordan was presented this scholarship in front of family and friends today at the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.
“A scholarship is more than giving a young person tuition or book money, it sends a message. Adults know that higher education leads to more choices and opens doors as you get older” says Sheriff Taylor, “Anna is very dedicated to her future and is certainly deserving of this scholarship. I am honored to give it to her today.”
