Community-Minded Dance Kicks off the 9th Annual
Lindy on the Rocks and 2nd Annual Biennial of the Americas!
Two weeks of classes, performances and live music with
internationally acclaimed dancers and musicians.
Denver based non-profit, Community-Minded Dance (cmDance), kicked off the 9th annual Lindy on the Rocks, with the arrival of Grupo Folklorico Copelec from Chillan, Chile on July 21st. Grupo Folklorico Copelec is a cultural dance group dedicated to the preservation of traditional Chilean folk dances. GFC will be performing several different dances; Rapa Nui, Altiplano Chileno, Zona Central “Huaso”, Island of Chiloe.
This group of 16 performers will be entertaining Colorado audiences for the next two weeks, culminating in there performance at the August 3 Swing in the City Gala and Show in the Donald Seawell Ballroom at the Denver Center for Preservation.

On August 3rd, the local non-profit Community-Minded Dance (cmDance) presents the 4th Annual Swing in the City Show. The evening begins with hor d’oeuvres, followed by dinner and show featuring internationally acclaimed award-winning dancers from a variety of styles including Swing, Jazz, Tango, and much more. The performances include Nick Jones and Diana Cruz, amazing Argentine Tango dancers who teach and travel internationally, Grupo Folklorico Copelec, a dance troupe from Chillan, Chile, performing traditional Chilean folk dances, as well as internationally acclaimed Lindy Hop dancers and instructors (Tommy Blacharz & Alice Mei, Annie Trudeau & Mikey Pedrosa, Nathan Bugh & Giselle Anguizola).
