Pollution prevention committee seeks new members

 The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment today announced it is accepting applications from those interested in serving on the Pollution Prevention Advisory Board Assistance Committee. There currently are eight seats available. Applications are due by close of business July 22, 2013. The online application and submittal instructions are available on the department’s committee webpage .

The 13-member committee, created by the 2007 Recycling Resources Economic Opportunity Act and continued through July 1, 2026, by Senate Bill 13-050, advises the Pollution Prevention Advisory Board on awarding grants and rebates from the Recycling Resources Economic Opportunity Fund. The fund promotes implementation of projects focused on source reduction, recycling, composting, anaerobic digestion or beneficial use/re-use for a wide variety of materials.

Committee members are appointed by the executive director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Newly appointed members will serve four years, with terms beginning August 1, 2013.

Per statute, the committee has specific eligibility requirements. The following seats are available to anyone who has the authority to represent these groups:

·         Municipal government, rural

·         County government, urban

·         County government, rural

·         Nonprofit group (up to three seats available)

·         For-profit business (up to three seats available)

·         Colorado Energy Office

·         Office of Economic Development and International Trade

Electronically submitted applications are preferred, but paper applications will be accepted by mail. Faxed applications will not be accepted. Applicants may submit applications by email to cphe.ppp2@state.co.us.
