Pike National Forest – Pikes Peak District Beginning Safety Improvements To Road 320 In El Paso County

The U.S. Forest Service, Pike National Forest– Pikes Peak Ranger District will temporarily close a section of National Forest System Road 320 (Mt. Herman Road), in El Paso County Wednesday, July 10, 2013, to accommodate road work. The work is anticipated to be completed in one day, and the road should re-open to public use immediately thereafter.

At the east end, the closure will occur at milepost 2.4, just above the intersection with Red Rocks Drive. At the west end, the closure will occur at the intersection with National Forest System Road 320A, at approximately milepost 7.7 (5.2 miles east of the intersection with Rampart Range Road 300). No motorized use will be permitted between these closures on this day.

This project involves location and surveying of a high-pressure natural gas line that is buried in the roadway. This work is necessary to support on-going safety improvements planned for sections of the road. In the interest of public safety, no traffic will be permitted during the performance of this work.
