The San Isabel National Forest – Salida Ranger District has opened its new office at the Salida Natural Resource Center located at 5575 Cleora Road in Salida.
“We are now able to offer full services to visitors and our local community,” said Joe Rechsteiner, Acting District Ranger. An open house will be held at a later date.
“We are very excited about the new building and with the addition of a beautiful, new visitor’s area,” said Ann Ewing, Visitor Information Assistant. The Greater Arkansas River Nature Association (GARNA) occupies a portion of front lobby area and offers map and books sales for visitors.
Previously, U.S. Forest Service fire personnel were located in a separate building in Poncha Springs. The addition of the Fire Management personnel to the building has helped with streamlining overall operations. This facility is also home to the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
Hours of operations for the Salida Ranger District are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, please contact us at 719-539-3591.
