LARGEST BEACH DOUBLES VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT IN NORTH AMERICA COMES TO VAIL, COLORADO THIS FATHER’S DAY WEEKEND!
The largest beach doubles volleyball tournament in North America begins this Friday, June 14th, in Vail, Colorado and runs through Sunday, Father’s Day, June 16th. Having drawn 555 teams to last year’s Event, the 41st Annual Vail “King of the Mountain” Open is looking to be even bigger at this year’s Event; with organizers expecting upwards of 600 teams to participate.
Boasting, as well, the most comprehensive tourney in the Country with 26 different divisions of play, the Vail Event is looking to lay claim to the most “popular outdoor volleyball tourney” in the Rocky Mountain Region. Taking place in Vail for 41 consecutive years, the tournament offers competitive, and recreational, play for every level of ability including juniors (girls), adult formats, co-ed, masters and seniors, and, even, special Father’s Day Events – Father/Son & Father/Daughter divisions.
Organizers are bringing-in one of the most recognizable names in beach volleyball history – 3-time Olympic gold medalist, Kerri Walsh Jennings. Jennings will be making an appearance at this storied Event, along with other AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour All-Stars, coaching a FREE junior’s volleyball clinic, putting-on an interactive exhibition, and offering up specially designed autograph sessions and photo opportunities for any, and all, fans of beach volleyball.
Readers may recognize the fact that the team of Kerri Walsh Jennings/Misty May WERE the highlight of the 2012 London Olympics as well as winning the two summer Olympic games prior.
All information regarding the “special event” schedule as well as information regarding the actual tournament may be found on the Event’s web site: www.KingOfTheMountainVolleyball.com
The tourney is the oldest, consecutive running beach volleyball tournament in Colorado and one of the oldest in the United States.
