On Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 8:51 PM, a 31 year old female was struck and killed while crossing the 2100 block of East Platte Avenue. Her next-of-kin have been notified and she has been identified as Elizabeth A. Marshall of Colorado Springs, CO.
The investigation shows that the victim was crossing East Platte Avenue from the south in mid-block. The vehicle was traveling eastbound in the left through lane and struck the victim with the right front corner. The vehicle is believed to have sustained heavy to severe damage to the right front corner and is also suspected to have damage to the right side of the vehicle, the hood, the windshield and possibly the top.
The driver of the vehicle involved in this crash, failed to stop and fled the scene eastbound on East Platte Ave. The suspect vehicle and driver have not yet been identified or located.
The CSPD Major Accident Unit is conducting an investigation into this accident and, based on evidence recovered from the scene; believe the vehicle involved is a 2012 or 2013 Chevrolet Sonic of unknown color.
The Major Accident Unit is asking for assistance in locating this vehicle and driver. The below photo provided is not the actual vehicle involved, merely an example of the make and type of vehicle in question.
