The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle crash resulting in fatal injuries that occurred on eastbound I-70 this morning.
At 11:36, a 1999 Toyota 4Runner was traveling in the left lane when its driver swerved into the center median to avoid tire debris in the roadway. The Toyota reentered the roadway, traveling across the eastbound lanes and off the right shoulder before rolling multiple times.
The Toyota’s driver and sole occupant, a 60-year-old male from Colorado Springs, was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash but sustained fatal injuries. The driver’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.
The roadway was not closed for any extended period of time during the investigation.
