The City of Cripple Creek is gearing up for the first annual Cowboy Gathering and Western Street Dance June 14-16. The event will celebrate summertime in Cripple Creek with a full schedule of events including a Colorado Pro Rodeo Association sanctioned rodeo, chuck wagon cook-off, street dance and demolition derby.
Sponsored by the City of Cripple Creek, the Cripple Creek Rodeo will feature some of rodeo’s most popular spectator events, including bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, steer wrestling, open team roping, mixed team roping, tie down roping, breakaway roping and ladies’ barrel racing. Saturday night’s Western Street Dance, sponsored by the Triple Crown Casinos, will feature a beer garden and live entertainment from Exit West. Other event highlights include a Chuckwagon Cook-off next to the Cripple Creek District Museum, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary during the Cowboy Gathering. There will also be photo opportunities with the Texas Longhorn Steers, who will be milling through Cripple Creek and performing tricks during the gathering on Friday and Saturday.
