Jennifer Ferguson, Conductor

Augustana Arts presents I Thank You God, featuring the Colorado Women’s Chorale and the St. Luke’s Brass Ensemble for a concert of classical, jazz, and pop works featuring the dynamic combination of voice and brass.

Colorado Women’s Chorale will be performing the world premiere of “Sweet Molly and Friends” by Gwyneth Walker for women’s voices.  Conductor Jennifer Ferguson says, “This is a fun, unique three movement work accompanied only by a tuba.  I don’t know of any other choral work only accompanied by a tuba!”

The program includes pieces by Debussy, Rossini, Faure, Stroope, Billy Joel, explores the versatility of the French Horn with Mulholland’s “Three Love Songs” and the bright agility of the trumpet with “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”.

Performances are Friday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 E. Alameda Ave., Denver, CO 80246 and Saturday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Luke’s UMC, 8817 South Broadway, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129. Tickets are $20 Adult / $15 Senior & Student / $8 Children ages 5 – 12 (children under 5 are free) and available by calling 303-388-4962 or online at www.augustanaarts.org.

The Colorado Women’s Chorale was founded in 2003 by the nationally recognized Charlotte Adams to broaden the exposure of quality women’s choral music in Colorado while providing choral opportunities for adult female musicians.  The CWC provides its members with excellence in choral music while focusing on modern works created specifically for the art of women’s voices.  CWC holds auditions every August and January.

Jennifer Ferguson is the Artistic Director of the Colorado Women’s Chorale. Mrs. Ferguson earned her Bachelor of Music at Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana. Before being accepted to the University of Denver, where she was the graduate teaching assistant for the D.U. choir program, she was music director at Aurora Academy Charter School. She has recently finished her MM with a major in choral conducting and holds the title of Executive and Artistic Director of the Mile High Youth Choir. Jennifer is also the Associate Director of Music Ministries at St. Luke’s UMC in Highlands Ranch, where she directs the church’s many instrumental ensembles including the orchestra, brass ensemble, and jazz bands.

Since 1997, Augustana Arts has been serving the community by presenting the artistry of resident performing groups, internationally renowned touring artists and accomplished locally-based ensembles of many genres. The resident groups, Musica Sacra Chamber Orchestra (MSCO) and the Colorado Women’s Chorale (CWC) perform at a variety of venues in addition to the majestic Augustana Lutheran Church in Denver. Augustana Arts serves educational outreach through the City Strings program, an inspired vision guided by violinist Robyn Sosa. City Strings provides access to high quality, private music instruction free of cost to metro area students.

Augustana Arts concerts and programs are made possible in part by generous support from the citizens of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, the Anschutz Foundation, the Augustana Foundation, the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation  and several other community partners.
