I-25 Multi Vehicle, Semi Fire Crash

Colorado State Patrol investigating semi fire, multi-car crash

 

The Colorado State Patrol is on scene at I-25 near mile marker 253 (Johnson’s Corner) for multiple vehicle crashes, including a semi-tanker that was engulfed in flames.  An estimated 20-50 vehicles, including at least four tractor-trailers, have crashed or gone off the roadway in the area, which is heavily impacted by snow and weather.  Northbound traffic is closed and not anticipated to open for at least 5-7 hours.

 

Several parties have been transported to MCR with unknown injuries.  The identities and conditions of all involved parties are not yet known.  No fatalities have been reported.  The Red Cross is responding to the area to assist stranded motorists and on-scene personnel.

 

Poor weather and driving conditions are being considered as the main factors for the crashes.  The investigations are being conducted and details are not yet available.

 

The Colorado State Patrol recommends avoiding driving in inclement weather and conditions whenever possible.
