Bill Raising Taxes on Gun Owners Passes

Today, the Senate passed House Bill 1228 on second reading by voice vote that fails to improve public safety and only imposes greater burdens on gun owners when seeking to purchase or borrow a firearm.

“I cannot support a bill that imposes a tax on people for simply exercising their constitutional rights” said Senator Kent Lambert (R-Colorado Springs). “This bill is simply a revenue raising measure that seeks to pass the buck to law-abiding gun owners. Charging taxpayers to exercise their constitutional rights is wrong and unfair.”
