On Tuesday, March 26th at 10:00 am, the Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice will hold a press conference in front of the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, 520 16th St North, in Birmingham, Alabama.
At this press conference ACIJ will:
– – Launch the Alabama Immigrant Stories project, an effort to collect the stories of immigrants, families of immigrants, and community members that highlight the need for federal immigration reform. This project is part of the Keeping Families Together project, which is gathering stories from across the country and compiling them at www.keepingfamiliestogether.net.
– – Tell the stories of two of our members, who will be present to share their experiences as immigrants in Alabama. These two stories will serve as examples of the many stories that will be available on our website (www.acij.net) starting on Tuesday March 26th in written and video formats. These stories will also be archived at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute.
– – Share statements from Representative Terri Sewell and other community leaders and elected officials in support of federal immigration reform.
