Weather postpones I-25 Expansion Open House

COLORADO SPRINGS –The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is rescheduling its Interstate 25 Expansion open house scheduled for tonight due to the snowstorm.

CDOT is rescheduling the informational meeting until next Thursday, February 28.  It will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Classical Academy Central Campus, 1655 Springcrest Road, in north Colorado Springs.

“We felt that in order to allow as many people as possible to attend, it was in the best interest to postpone it until we have better weather conditions,” said CDOT Project Manager Dan Hunt.

The @i25expansion project is adding one lane in each direction between Woodmen Road in Colorado Springs and State Highway 105 in Monument, which is about 11 miles.

Widening set to start between Colorado Springs & Monument next month

COLORADO SPRINGS –The public will have its first close look at the project designed to improve safety and alleviate congestion on Interstate 25 through north El Paso County tomorrow evening.*

Construction phasing, the North Gate interchange redesign and other project information will be shared during an open house on Thursday, February 21, from 6 to 8 p.m., at The Classical Academy Central Campus, 1655 Springcrest Road, in north Colorado Springs.

The @i25expansion project is adding one lane in each direction between Woodmen Road in Colorado Springs and State Highway 105 in Monument, which is about 11 miles.

“This is an opportunity for citizens to talk with the staff from the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the contractor team to learn firsthand about this long-awaited project,” said Dan Hunt, CDOT’s project manager. “We’re encouraging commuters, business owners, residents, people who work in and near the project area and anyone else to come learn more about the project and how it’ll impact their travels.”

The project, which gets underway in early March, will improve safety, ease congestion, protect habitat and wetlands, and improve access onto and off the interstate. The contractor team, lead by Kiewit Infrastructure Co. and Parsons Brinckerhoff, has committed to opening the third lane in each direction by Dec. 31, 2013.

Additional information will be available on the project website www.southi25expansion.com in the coming weeks.
