Time is Almost Up for Republicans to Act in Middle Class Americans’ Interest

With Senate leaders engaging in a final effort to reach a bipartisan deal on expiring tax rates and funding levels for numerous programs, Colorado Democratic Party Chairman Rick Palacio released the following statement:

“The time for posturing and gamesmanship should have made way for action a long time ago, but nonetheless, our leaders have one final chance to act. I am encouraged that several Republican Senators, including Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, are working this weekend to strike a broad deal. But should such a deal fail to come together in time, Congress must act to prevent a tax increase on middle class families and to continue unemployment insurance for those who are still trying to find work. Ordinary Americans shouldn’t have to pick up the tab for such dysfunction, and Republicans have a final chance to prioritize the national interest over right-wing dogma.”
