Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s Electric Safari is better than ever – offering more lights, more animals and more Santa! Electric Safari runs Friday, December 14 – Tuesday, January 1 from 5:30 – 8:30pm nightly, with the exception of Christmas Eve.
For 22 years, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has been celebrating the spirit of the holidays with Electric Safari. This year, the event boasts over one million lights that can be seen all over the city, but only truly appreciated when strolling through the Zoo. Over 40 lighted animal sculptures, designed and built by Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s own horticulture staff, make our local Zoo lights one of a kind.
See the Zoo’s four elephants and new black rhino, Jumbe, in the elephant barn – open for the first time only for Electric Safari guests. Additional exhibits will be also open, including the giraffe barn, Rocky Mountain Wild, Asian Highlands, Monkey Pavilion and Lion’s Lair. Keeper talks will also be offered on all nights.
Santa will be busy granting holiday wishes every night through Sunday, December 23. On Wednesday, December 19, children who are deaf and hard of hearing can share their wish list with Santa in American Sign Language. Volunteers from Access 2 Sign Language, a local interpreting agency, will also be on hand for all zookeeper talks and animal demonstrations. Come back and say “Thanks Santa!” on Saturday, December 29, when Santa returns from the North Pole for his last visit to the Zoo in 2012.
