COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (Nov. 5, 2011) – The 2012 Colorado Springs Christmas Crèche Exhibit & Concerts will feature (4) exclusive Live Nativity presentations at 6pm and 7pm on Nov. 30th & Dec. 1st, 2012.  The Live Nativity is a 15 minute narrated, live reenactment of the Christian Nativity Story including live animals and is held outdoors in the parking lot of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Liberty Chapel located at 8610 Scarborough Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80920 (near the intersection of Powers & Research Parkway).

.

The Live Nativity production team consists of Ann and Shawn Heer who produces the nativity and set design.  Bonnie and David Hart directs the nativity.  There is a cast of about 25 that performs in the production.  Crawlight Productions donates their time and equipment for lighting.  The Black Forest Animal Sanctuary donates the animals which include a miniature donkey, miniature horse, goats, and alpacas.

“My husband and I moved here from California 11 years ago where we had attended a live nativity,” said Ann Heer, co-producer of the Live Nativity.  “About 6 years ago my husband and I were talking about how we could get our children to focus more on the meaning of Christmas and start our holiday season right. We decided to put together a Live Nativity here in Colorado.  It would be our gift to Christ and the community to help us focus on the true meaning of Christmas. With the help of David and Bonnie Hart we put this together and had our first Live Nativity 6 years ago in Monument at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located on Highway 105. Though the nativity was originally in Monument it was moved to Colorado Springs two years ago to combine with the Colorado Springs Crèche Exhibit and it seemed to be a perfect fit. We have heard the nativity story repeatedly at Christmas time, but by seeing it reenacted outdoors makes one feel like they are really there. The story comes to life in a very real way. Through this type of event, our community is unified as we gather together as Christians to worship the Savior regardless of age, political beliefs, ethnicity, or any other differences we may have. It strengthens in all of us: Peace on Earth, Good Will Towards Men.”

“We would like to extend an invitation to everyone to come out and enjoy all of the nativity scenes as well as experience the incredible Live Nativity presentations,” said Bryan Searing, organizer of the 2012 Colorado Springs Christmas Crèche Exhibit & Concerts.  “Now in our fourth year, we are looking forward to sharing the spirit of Christmas with our community and bringing everyone together.  To help warm the hearts and bellies, there will also be complimentary hot chocolate served right after the Live Nativity presentations on both evenings of the event.”

Last year, over 4,000 people participated in the two-day event and enjoyed 450 different nativities from all over the world while listening to live Christmas music performed by many of Colorado Springs musical groups.

In addition to the Live Nativity presentations and hundreds of crèches at this year’s exhibit,  the following inspiring musical groups  are scheduled to perform:
