|Las Vegas, NV/Los Angeles, CA- What a week for singer songwriter Carla Morrison- Nominated for 4 Latin GRAMMYS© at the 13th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards (including Album Of The Year + Song Of The Year) Morrison walked away with 2: Alternative Album Of The Year and Alternative Song Of The Year.Joined by her co-producers Andres Landon, Juan Manuel Torreblanca and main engineer Alejandro Jimenez, Morrison graciously accepted her awards and emphatically stated “This is like a dream, I am beyond words. All I can say is I want to thank my family, my team, my fans, and the academy for believing in me, my producers, and my album”.
Carla will be returning to the United States in Spring 2013 for an extensive tour.
The 2-time win culminated an amazing 5 days beginning on Monday, Nov 12- Arriving into Los Angeles Morrison immediately entered state- of- the- art Red Bull Studios in Santa Monica. The plan was already set…to re-record 2 of Morrison’s songs (Latin GRAMMY© winning song “Dejenme Llorar” & “Hasta La Piel”) with her music compatriots Nina Diaz of Indie buzz band Girl In A Coma and Tere Gender Bender of Les Butcherettes/Bosnian Rainbows. Carla also found time to perform a benefit concert in Northeast Los Angeles (Highland Park) for the Las Fotos Project. Performing a 45 minutes set, Morrison and her band took time out of their busy week to give back to the Los Angeles Latino community which has supported her since the first time she performed at MUCHO WEDNESDAYS (also the promoter of event) at LaCita in downtown LA. Raising more than $5000 to provide free photography lessons for 20 underprivileged girls.
After boarding a Red Bull Bus early morning in Los Angeles, Morrison traveled to Las Vegas to perform Blondie’s classic track “Heart Of Glass” with the Los Producers Band (lead by famed record producer Sebastian Krys) for the BMI/Los Producers Benefit for City Of Hope’s Hispanic Resources Program. Other notable performers included Juanes and Nelly Furtado.
That’s not all. Carla’s track “Disfruto” off her Latin GRAMMY winning album Dejenme Llorar was also used in the critically acclaimed FX TV series Sons of Anarchy. The episode entitled “Ablation” aired October 23 used the track in the ending scene:
