OCTOBER EVENTS & HAPPENINGS
October 20, 2012 – Restoring a Mountain of Memories Fundraiser – Saturday at 5:30pm
The Southern Colorado Chapter of AAZK (American Association of Zookeepers) will host a fundraiser to benefit the restoration of Monkey Mountain. Tickets to the event will be sold at the door that evening and include a BBQ Sandwich Dinner at 6pm. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Gates open at 5:30pm (at Gate 6 north of main entrance). Money raised will go towards cleaning, restoring the water stream, new fencing, and interpretive signage reflecting the history of the mountain. There are no plans to open Monkey Mountain for public use.
October 22, 2012 – Presentation of AZA Accreditation Credentials
Jim Maddy, President and CEO of the Assocation of Zoos and Aquariums, will formally present the Pueblo Zoo with its accreditation credentials at City Council’s Meeting. Jim Maddy will also be visiting and touring the Zoo.
October 27, 2012 – Zoo Boo – Saturday (9:30am – 3:00pm)
Have a spooktacular time at the Pueblo Zoo. Activities include treat stations, animal close encounters, and animal enrichment with pumpkins. Children (ages 3-12) are admitted free when wearing costume and accompanied by paying adult. Cost for adult admission is $8 and youth (ages 13-17) is $7. Pueblo Zoo members receive free admission for adults and children. Event is Presented by R. Peter Sonntag Family Dentistry and Sponsored by Wendy’s, Mauro Farms and Bakery, and Target.
